Those parents looking to have their sons be Boy Scouts in Chicago, we are located on the North Side  and Sponsored by St. John Berchmans School and Church, now serving Logan Square youth !

Troop 17 is one of the newest Chartered Troops in Chicago, however has had long running leadership throughout the years. The current troop committee has over 25 years of Scouting experience in mentoring and empowering youth.

Camping, Outdoor Experience & High Adventure

Our Troop typically plans to go camping at least every 2 months, if not monthly. If we do not camp, the goal is to enjoy the outdoor experience whether doing something in the city or get away into back country to explore something new. We have a goal to have boys interested in High Adventure excursion ( like backpacking in New Mexico, or Sailing Base in Florida) to plan a year or more in advance to train, save & pay their way for the trip.

Quality Program

The program is structured around personal growth both mentally and physically to learn things that boys would not learning normally in the classroom setting. We use the Boy Scouts of America mission statement as the guide for our program which is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
